Mars and Calm teamed up to conduct a survey of 30,000 pet parents, and they found that more than half of them would rather spend time with their pets when they want to get away from their troubles. According to this global survey, 83% of people said they believe their cats and dogs have had a positive impact on their mental well-being.
58% of pet parents want to spend time with pets when they are stressed. Compare that to the 32% of people who said they want to spend time with their partners, and the 23% who said they want to spend time with family when stressed. 18% said they want to spend time with their kids, and another 18% said they prefer the company of friends.

- 84% of pet parents surveyed said a pet’s presence is calming and relaxing, without the need for actions or words.
- 56% of pet parents stated that their companions provide company without talking during stressful times.

Survey respondents shared that there are many ways their pets get them to slow down during their otherwise hectic days, and this helps to calm them down and relax.

- 77% of people said their pets encourage taking breaks from screens.
- 73% of people said their pets help calm their mind so they don’t worry or overthink as much.
